Rescue Truck - BCSSAR1

In September 2005, we were notified that we had received a $58,700 grant through the State of Idaho Emergency Medical Services Dedicated Funds Grant.  This grant is funded through drivers license and vehicle registration fees.

The new truck replaces a 1989 Chevrolet S-10 that had been outgrown by the Search and Rescue.  The new truck provides adequate space for five responders, and is capable of towing the unit's mobile command post, as well as the unit's two enclosed snowcats.

The new truck was officially placed in service on March 22, 2006.

Special thanks to Denys Hansen at Smith's Chevrolet, Mike Anderson at Semi Service, Shane Fitch at Bonneville County Road and Bridge, Rick Hafla at Teton Communications, and the folks at Auto Trim Design of Idaho for all of their help!

Polaris Sportsman X2 800 EFI All-Terrain Vehicles

Special thanks to the CHC Foundation for their generous donation towards the purchase of two new Polaris Sportsman X2 800 EFI All-Terrain Vehicles.  The two new ATVs will allow us to field additional dedicated ATVs during search missions, more rapidly field K-9 teams in remote areas accessible only by ATVs, and field the ambulance sled for extrications from remote locations to awaiting ground or air ambulances.

Yamaha Rhino 660s

Special thanks to Rexburg Motor Sports and the Yamaha Corporation for their generous donation of the use of a new Yamaha Rhino 660 as part of the Yamaha Law Loan Program.  The utility vehicle has proven itself in several searches for fielding K-9 teams, as well as carrying large and heavy rescue equipment.

Mobile Command Post

The Pace America enclosed snowmobile trailer transforms from an enclosed snowmobile/ATV trailer to a full blown mobile command center when on scene.  Fully equipped with UHF, VHF, Fleet Talk, and cellular comunications, a cook top (for the coffee and hot water), and of course, heat!  Thanks to Adams Trailers, Trailers West, and Teton Communications for the help in getting this trailer operational.

Thiokol Spryte Snowcat

The larger of the two snowcats, this large over-the-snow vehicle is equipped to transport patients to awaiting ground and air ambulances, as well as serve as a search vehicle and a mobile radio platform.

Thiokol Super Imp Snowcat

The smaller of the two snowcats, this snowcat is a true sportscar of snowcats.  The vehicle is equipped to transport K-9 teams to remote field locations, serves as a transport vehicle to transport patients to awaiting ground and air ambulances, as well as serve as a mobile radio platform.
