Frequently Asked Questions

Q: On average, how many missions does the Bonneville County Sheriff's Search and Rescue conduct each year?
A: On average, the BCSSAR has 18-24 missions per year.  We can go months without a call, or have multiple calls going simultaneously.
Q: I have a scout troop, church group, school class, or other civic group that I would like the BCSSAR to come and talk to.  How can I arrange this?
A: Part of our mission is to conduct "Preventative SAR" - teaching individuals and groups in the community about outdoor safety.  To arrange for a discussion, please contact us at info@bcsar.org.
Q: I have a dog that I think would make a great search dog.  How can I get him trained?
A: In general, our K-9 handlers are Search and Rescue members first, and K-9 handlers second.  We ask that all Search and Rescue members first understand and practice search basics, then specialize in areas such as search dogs.  The majority of our K-9 training is done in-house by our seasoned K-9 staff.
Q: I would like to make a donation to the BCSSAR.  How can I do that?
A: The Bonneville County Sheriff's Search and Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.  Your tax deductible donation can be made by mail to:

Bonneville County Sheriff's Search and Rescue
c/o:  Bonneville County Sheriff's Office
605 North Capital Ave.
Idaho Falls, ID  83402

Q: I am interested in joining the BCSSAR.  Where can I find more information?
A: Visit our Opportunities page, e-mail us at info@bcsar.org, or join us at one of our meetings held the second and last Monday of the month, 7PM, at our SARCenter, located at 2365 Hemmert Ave, in Idaho Falls.
